Our projects are designed to enable individuals and groups make decisions and control resources to improve their economic situation. We ensure processes and systems are designed to create equitable economic systems

Our projects aim to improve understanding of mixed migration, and to inform policy and services for migrants. We produce independent and high-quality data and use credible and reliable information generated through research and analysis on mixed migration to inform policy decisions

Our projects are designed to enable communities manage the way in which people and natural landscapes interact. We integrate natural heritage management, land use planning and management, water management, bio-diversity conservation, and the future sustainability of industries like agriculture, mining, tourism, fisheries and forestry in a planned and sustainable manner. Feasibility studies are part and parcel of our design process and aim to enhance the protection of natural resources like water, land, forests, minerals, and wildlife, often involving community engagement, conservation strategies, and responsible resource extraction to ensure long-term environmental health and socio-economic benefits within a specific area

Our projects are designed to protect and improve the health of people and their communities. Interventions are designed to enable individuals and communities promote healthy lifestyles and clean environments. We contribute to public health research and messaging as part of prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases et al

Our projects are designed to prevent and respond to harm and violence in communities. We ensure projects offer legal protections like the protection from domestic violence and the harassment, with many individuals ad groups facing issues like sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination, highlighting the need for continued efforts to ensure their safety and respect in society. In addition, our projects make efforts to prevent, as well as to build resilience and counter violent extremism through messaging on the risks and dangers of engaging in violent acts). In addition to this, ODI KAL facilitates, supports and contributes to Peacebuilding by seeking to address the underlying causes of conflict, helping people and communities to resolve their differences peacefully and lay the foundations to prevent future violence and promote social cohesion.

Modality

Coordination and Implementation

At ODI KAL, A project coordination unit (PCU) i manages and coordinates the activities of each project. PCUs are established at the national and field level.

Responsibilities include:-

  • Planning: Planning activities related to the project, including budgeting and procurement.
  • Monitoring: Tracking the progress of the project and ensuring that team members are meeting their responsibilities
  • Evaluation: Evaluating the project's impact and effectiveness
  • Communication: Communicating with stakeholders, beneficiaries, and donors
  • Reporting: Providing progress reports to the government and donors

The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) provides oversight for social and environmental safeguards, coordinates the project and prepares consolidated annual work plans and budgets for the project. It also updates the Government, the World Bank and other strategic partners on project performance, funds utilization and audits. It is domiciled in the Ministry of Devolution and ASALs and headed by the National Project Coordinator.
